INTRODUCTION
This blog is created to share and inform people about the
difficulties faced by our previous generation in order to gain
independence. Malaysia had through many memorable events that occurred
to achieve independence. Malaysia now is different with previous
Malaysia before achieving independence. With this information, people
especially young citizen will more appreciate and respect of our leader
in order to keep our country in harmony.
About Malaysia :
Malaysia or also known as Malaya before it gained independence is a federal constitution monarchy in Southeast Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories and has a total landmass of 329,847 square kilometres separated by the South China Sea into two similarly sized regions, Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysia Borneo. Land borders are shared with Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei. The capital city is Kuala Lumpur, while Putrajaya is the seat of the federal government. In 2010 the population exceeded 27.5 million, with over 20 million living on the Peninsula.
Before Malaysia got its name, this country had through many difficulties especially being controlled by other colonizer that tried to take over the ruling of Malaysia. Many events had occurred in Malaysia or Malaya before it achieve independence. In the Second World War the Japanese army invaded and occupied Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore for over three years. During this time, ethnic tensions were raised and nationalism grew followed by British plans to unite the administration of Malaya under a single crown colony called the Malayan Union. However, not all the citizen agreed with the plan and after received many objections, Malayan Union has been replaced with with Malaysia on 16 September 1963.
